![]() Mission Aerospace Professional: Students will develop an understanding of the role of an Aerospace Engineer and explore other engineering careers applicable to space travel and/or colonization.This set of lessons is designed for North Carolina Essential Standards and Next Generation Science Standards. Mission Apollo: Students will explore the different Apollo Missions that landed on the moon, what occurred during the missions, and what advancements were made.Mission Cratering: Students will learn about the formation of the moon, crater formation, lack of atmosphere/erosion on the moon compared to Earth, create their own craters, and identify cratering on The Giant Moon MapTM.Students were actively engaged as they rotated through five stations to learn more about the moon, through creating their own craters, exploring Apollo missions, careers applicable to space travel/colonization, the geology of the moon, and by studying a space mission timeline! See more details about each station below: Students use iPads, Chromebooks, print material, and a large vinyl mat that includes a map of the moon, timeline, and other relevant information to complete the tasks. Activities include career exploration, investigations of the lunar surface/geology, review of space exploration and historical events, and a culminating discussion focused on the development of a visitor complex on the moon. #Moon atlas online series#In partnership with Wingate University, and the Aldrin Family Foundation, sixth grade CMS students had the opportunity to work collaboratively in small groups to connect the NCES with the real world proposed habitability of the moon using a Giant Interactive Moon Map and a series of exploratory tasks.
